The St. Mary’s Church is also known by the name Valiyapally or the ‘big church.’ It is believed that the church was built in the year 1550. There is a story surrounding this church, and people believe that the church was built on the land granted by a Hindu chieftain, who gave land to descendants of Syrian Knanaya Christians.

The church has a big granite cross that is carved out of a single slab of stone. The altar, as well as the ceilings of the church, are beautifully carved and represent an artistic beauty.
